eSET-APART is a culmination of over 20 years of
experience in children ministry. In 1985, shortly after
I gave my life to Christ, I joined the children ministry
as a Sunday school teacher. Based on my Christian
background, I believed that teaching children was for
futuristic purposes. That is, if a child was saved and
taught the Word of God in his childhood, he would
invariably backslide in his youth before subsequently
rededicating his life to Christ in adult years. However,
on the morning of October 27, 1988, God gave me a
revelation based on John
17:17
- Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. I became convinced that children can be successfully SET
APART as godly children empowered to affect their
generation for Christ right from their childhood. In
addition, I discovered a God-given ability to write
curriculums for children. As a result, with the
encouragement of my prayer partner, I started the SET
APART Bible Club in my neighborhood Akobo,
Ibadan in Nigeria on the 9th of November,
1998.
For
over two years, the SET APART bible Club met every
Tuesday evening. I wrote all the teaching materials used
in the bible club including the take-home sheets which
were handed to the children free of charge. Later, Bunmi
Oyeleye became a co-coordinator with me in running the
bible club. When I left Nigeria with my family to
relocate to the
US, Bunmi continued operating the SET APART Bible Club
which is currently meeting weekly on Saturday evening.
In
the US, I continued writing children curriculums off and
on as my family and work schedules permitted.
Over the years, in response to various requests, I have
granted permission for the reproduction of the
curriculums for use in homes, schools, churches and
other bible clubs in both Nigeria and the United States
of America. In May 2006 after relocating to Canada, I
registered a business known as SET APART
Outreach
to publish these resources.
However, by December 2006, I perceived that the Lord
wanted me to run it as a ministry and
not a business.
I
realize, base on Matthew 9:37-38, that the harvest of
souls among children for the Kingdom is indeed plentiful
and the workers need to be encourage and equip for this
harvest. Through eSET-APART,I believe that teaching people how to set up
and operate a bible club, and making my curriculums
available for use in ministering to children are my own
contribution to laboring in God’s harvest fields and
fulfilling the vision God gave me.
My
husband, Dele, and I live in Thornhill, Ontario with our
two teenage son and daughter. My family have always been
there with me right from the beginning and I am deeply
appreciative of the enthusiastic encouragement they
provide every step of the way. To know more about me,
